“CES 2017 Automotive Innovation Report”
In 2017 the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas celebrated its 50th anniversary. For the first time in show history 20% of the overall show floor were dedicated to the automotive industry. Automotive companies like Nissan, Continental, ZF and Osram had their first public appearance at CES. And as many US and Chinese start-ups as never before presented their automotive innovations in North Hall.
Major automotive themes at CES 2017 were again autonomous driving and connectivity. Personalization of vehicle settings for drivers and passengers like climate, seat and mirror adjustments on all vehicle seats and personalization of vehicle contents like audio, video and office content as well as social networks were addressed by all OEMs. Drivers and passengers have their personal IDs and are identified either by their mobile devices or by biometric sensing. Each person in the vehicle has its personal space equipped with a personal display and loud speakers integrated into the headrests to create a private content and sound cocoon.
These developments for future car sharing and ride hailing solutions allow all persons to feel at home no matter which vehicle they board. This evolution is further on supported by automatic payment mechanisms and blockchains that were presented at CES permitting vehicle occupants to pay automatically their vehicle user and insurance fees or allow vehicles driving autonomously without passengers to pay tolls and recharge fees.
The 'CES 2017 Automotive Innovation Report' edited by StratMa International gives a review of these innovations and of mobility concepts, all concept cars, new human-machine-interfaces and other innovative automotive technologies that have been presented at CES 2017 in Las Vegas.
